What is Anfibia Magazine?

Anfibia is a digital magazine of chronicles, essays and non-fiction stories working with the rigor of journalistic research and the tools of literature. It was created in 2012 by the National University of San Martín, within its  program Lectura Mundi. Anfibia proposes an alliance between the academy and journalism with the intention to generate new readings of contemporary issues.

An interpretation of the Dark Web

Anfibia Magazine is known for its commitment to finding new ways to tell stories. For their feature on the Deep and Dark Web, I aimed to create an immersive illustration. The concept placed the magazine's amphibious characters in a parallel world of digital avatars—a vast, unregulated marketplace. This space was designed to visually represent the extensive gray areas between legality and crime. The artwork featured characters using masks to conceal their activities, with exploring eyes surveying the immense digital environment, where all manner of items were bought and sold.

Bitcoin mining

Anfibia Magazine published a deep dive into the world of cryptocurrencies in Argentina. The piece, featuring reporting by Esteban Magnani and Andrés Rabosto, explored digital money that bypasses traditional banks. It focused on the diverse Argentine users: the successful investors, those who suffered major losses, and those who treat crypto as a high-stakes game where "if everything goes to hell, you lose nothing." The investigation highlighted how, like in casinos, the secret to the Bitcoin world is knowing when to exit. My role was to create the accompanying 360° immersive illustration for this feature.

What is anphibious journalism?

This video humorously explains what distinguishes Anfibia Magazine from other online magazines. I created all the illustrations and animations for this piece.

Anfibian DNA

For this game an online app was developed that allowed the user to generate their own reader profile. We defined 4 iconic -and ironic- archetypes of Anfibia Magazine readers and based on these we designed a character and different accessories to dress it.
The final result is shared through social networks, inviting more readers to make their own profile.
